Raven TA Philosophy

The Raven TA Compilation Pack was designed to take TA Core Contingency and expand the higher tech levels, introducing new units and structures to provide improved options in all areas.

Balance

"All units are not created equal"

Like in life, all things are not equal. Were all units to be balanced perfectly against one another then it would make little difference what you built. With this in mind the balance shifts slightly from unit to unit, with each having its tactical specialty. This means you are often left with the decision;

"Should I build the more powerful unit or take a tactical approach?"

Normally the tactical option works best ( unless your opponent out guesses you ) and as always, it's good to have a mix of unit types. The balance also shifts with tech level. Each subsequent level has stronger units for their cost. This leads to more difficult decisions;

"Do I rush for the next level, concentrate on resource production, or focus on unit production?"

What is most important is that each race is balanced, so that both sides have units available of equal power at all tech levels. In cases where a unit would give a race a major advantage, the pack makes the unit more difficult to build, normally by increasing build time to prevent mass production.

Each race has its own specialties and strengths, continuing the theme set by Cavedog. Arm has superior electronics leading to better beam weapons, jamming units and force field shielded units. Core has superior metallurgy giving better ballistic weapons, stronger armour and more powerful ultra heavy kbots.
